Thanks for your comments Gary and Christine. You are absolutely right about the third leaf strategy. Well, I didn't add anything to the image as the leaves appeared naturally after falling from the trees around the pond. I just spotted them and clicked.

Good use of the 'Spot of Color' effect.
The red leaves really jump off the green textured background.
I would have added a third red element to the composition. It would have formed a triangle to keep your eye moving around the image. As it is I find my eye going from the big leaf to the small and then up out of the image.
