Sergio, thanks for your comment on my swirling petals shot - to answer your question, quite coincidentally, my lighting was the same as yours here in yucca tree!
I like this shot a lot - I think the lighting is a bit harsh on the yucca . . . I like the softly lit foreground and the beautiful, intense blue of the darkening sky.
I regret that my studies have kept me so busy lately that I haven't visited usefilm in weeks. Thanks for the opportunity to stop by . . . and I look forward to being able to spend more time when this semester is over!

Tom, I can relate with your thought that the yucca tree is a difficult subject, after spending 5 days in the mojave desert and taking countless images of the yucca tree (close to one hundred) this is one of the few that turned out alright. I do think you are on about the even lighting... I didn't notice it until you mentioned it... I suppose I could even it out in photoshop, but what fun would that be? I suppose I'll have to go back. ;-)

sergio, beautiful composition of such a difficult subject! i've tried hundreds of times to make yuccas look good and failed miserably. i like the portrait presentation with the large expanse of blue sky. the flashlight worked great. only suggestion i can make is to try one with two flashlights and maybe even out the lighting on the yucca plant. excellent photo!

take care,
tom
