Thanks Richard. You are correct. This, to be honest, is one of my first attempts to catch birds in motion with a 300 mm lens following a visit to our camera club by Sandy Clelland an excellent wildlife photograper. I liked the photo for the sense of power and movement and of course the splashes behind the bird.
We can sense the power developed on the wings' downstroke very well in this image. This is a good nature study, cropped just right. However, the exposure range was too severe for the chip overexposing the whites and obliterating detail. A tough situation that post processing cannot cure if there is no detail left. The best alternative is to give less initial exposure.
Nice capture...white is so hard to get proper exposure (atleast for me)..some detail is lost in the wing. Hope you enjoy your new 10D, I been having lots of fun with mine..so much better then my old Dimage7. Regards, Bill
