Otto Preminger doppelganger ;- ) ? Fine portrait Irma?? the ?technical? issues matter not here! The person is ?real? to the viewer and the atmosphere engages?

There's something about this picture I can't put my finger on. I've looked at it awhile and thought for a bit that it was the objects in the lower left hand corner that have a look of such perfectly absolute randomness that it is almost as if they were arranged. Then I thought it was the way the smoke curls off the cigarette, around his face and then into the overexposure of the window. What I finally came to was his eyes. They're direct but seem sad, distant, perhaps preoccupied with...?
I love so many things about this picture. Just the right amount of foreground, the texture of the bricks in the background, the way the smoke is present but doesn't obscure. Most of all though it's him... and those eyes.
Totally different from your other work but still so expressive. Fine work Irma.

there are all sorts of technical issues with this, but the immediacy of it is intriguing. technical concerns are, of course, relevant only to the extent that they aid or interfere with my ability to engage with a picture, so i hold those thoughts in abeyance. still, i can't make up my mind on this one. i think i need to see more of this way of seeing to figure out what it is i'm seeing.

Certainly a complete departure in style from the rest of your portfolio. The design of the image is good but technically it's too "flat" (low in contrast - probably underexposed) for my likings.
