Melissa: Thanks for your comments. I traded up to the 100-400L IS from a 75-300 USM non-IS and was highly surprised by the weight and size of it. It won't autofocus on the 10D if you combine it with the teleconverter which is why I had to go to the 1D Mark II. I have been rethinking my purposes and looking at the 70-200 f/2.8L IS combined with a 2x teleconverter. However then I would have to get a 500mm which is rather expensive to replace the 100-400 w/TC. I do recommend the 100-400 as mine has been excellent for me.

As for the lack of comments. This particular image doesn't present well as a thumbnail so it suffers somewhat on these forums. One has to look a bit closer at it to see what it is and most viewers won't do that. Thanks again.
