Many thanks for your kind comments, Arwa. Usually, once I've resized an image for the web (at a max of 800 px wide or 700 px deep), I use 'unsharp mask' at settings of 85%, .6 px and 3-5 levels to sharpen it right up. I find it usually works a treat! I hope this helps. Kind regards, Chris

Your Fred is really a covergirl, are you sure you haven't taken a photo of Frederica? ;-) But it is a wonderful photo, too utterly marvellous. I hope one day I'll manage to take such a nice macro of an insect. Unfortunately the insects in my garden don't know how to pose.

You're spreading this title a bit thin now Chris. Terrific capture of the butterfly though. Can't make out if you've got Stephens knack of catching them with spread wings (Haha) Den

The butterfly is perfect but the highlights on the white flowers look blown, the only quibble on a beautiful shot.

Nice going Chris, a great capture. We have very few butterflies around here anymore. About the only ones we have are small ones from pests of the farming community. Don.

Well... Fred certainly is a real beauty!!! No Not so strange he wanted to have his portrait taken (SMILE). Next time send Fred to me.... I can use some patient butterflymodels. I just haven't succeeded to "catch" one myself. Great colors and composition Chris! Love it. greetings, Diana.

Sooo, how do you know it's a 'Fred' maybe it's a 'Sally'!! LOL
Nice image Chris, I sure don't know how so many people manage to magically capture these things when careful focusing, DOF and movement are all so critical to macros...HOW??
But you got one, and a pretty one at that! Awesome markings, dots, diagonals, stripes...pretty!
I like the blue tinged curved leaves in the background.
Nice job, Lori :)
