I see this rather differently to James and find I really like how it breaks the conventions, his stare back at you from the edge actually makes an invisible line to centre, the grain suits a more tense atmosphere. The arrangement and the pose work to bring out the character to which you refer.

Thank you for your comments! Exposure was definitely an issue that day, but you've described Matt to a tee: butch, grainy, and definitely out of centre :)

Very butch image. Rather grainy effect is disappointing. He faces out of the centre of the image - try placing your model so that he brings you gaze back into the centre.
