About The third in a series of family wedding photos - OLDE family wedding photos!
A combination of circumstances has inspired this mini portfolio.
Firstly I had a panic stricken email from my sister Pat who has lost a whole series if photos apparently. I often send photos to MY work email so decided to look through my collection there - hey it was quiet at the time... You see tragically OUR home pc is in the shop also - seems like we are a careless family just now doesn't it? So it was I came upon this little trilogy(?) of photos.
This is a photo of my mother Winifred Hunt marrying my father Austin Harrington in 1939 just before WWII broke out.
His sister Mary Harrington is on the left and on the right is John Keeley.
MAry is living in Ottawa
These photos are a celebration of lives past and a reminder to those carrying on the DNA..
Also I find I am useless at enhancing these scanned images so I would appreciate any tips.
The last and probaly most important reason for posting these is cause JIL is posting old pics as well and I need to show him up!

Gabrielle, Have looked at all three images, and they are so important to keep. My Mum died two years ago this month, - Last Christmas I bought a frame with all these various sizes photo slots - and tried to capure a family history for my Aunt who missed my Mum so much. It just took so much time getting them in their little spaces, but my Aunt said it was the best present she had ever had, and maybe it will be passed on.
Thanks for sharing these
Margaret

I like it!
OOPS re the WWII years - history was never my strong point - much to my dear dads disappointment!
What exactly did you do to the photo?

Gabrielle, I've just had a quick try at adjusting on this one. Hope you don't mind. All I've done is adjusted saturation, brightness and contrast and applied unsharp mask. What do you think?

Err, excuse me but I thought WWll ended in 1945 or was there another one Gabrielle. Seriously though, these pics are priceless to the family aren't they. I'm sure I have a tut somewhere in a mag re restoration. I'll see if I can find it.
Marvellous series. Take real good care of the originals.

Very lovely. The tones were so awesome on the old ones.

How I love old photos! People always appear so dignified and distinguished!
This one is wonderful.

With a sweet smile she replied - it wouldn't fit you- it would be too SMALL... it wouldnt get over your head...

Very nice series. And if I have not already, sorry to hear about the aunt. I do have a request, however. I have to take items into class next week to use in a Teaching History segment. My group has the 1940's. Everything we bring in MUST be from that decade. Soooooo..... do you still have your maid of honor's dress?
