this is probably not for the book, but still belongs to the same concept: fantasy worlds that influences avoiders of "reality"! Thanx for the comment, profound!

It screams of theatre. Is this going in the book? I think the baccanalia is a different genre for its commitment. This has perhaps too much irony for the project though it is an astounding image and does generate an atmosphere.

Hi Mary, Very spooky shot, but that's probably a pavlov reaction, caused by the blueish, ghostly tones. Looking objectively at teh subject, a completely different image appears, and that's exactly what I like about this one.
As to the composition, I think a tilt, or more extreme angle of photography / POV could bring out the theme a bit stronger, and more surrealistic and ghostly, if you see what I mean. This idea is mainly induced by the black area in the top right corner, as I think the transition between the blue veil and the background is a bit harsh.
Other than that a very strong image, with an very powerful atmosphere as well as a huge impact.
Cheers,
Hugo

WOW, what a striking result!!! Love the colors. The fabric helps to create this dreamlike effect. One one hand it's a shame that you solved the riddle; on the other hand it gave me an new idea for future projects. Thanks! C.

yes I can see the fins... unfortunately I did not want to touch the picture! The lights changed all the time and I got advantage of the blue light. Here you can see a more realistic photo of the theatrical performance:

Wonderfully strange mermaid you have conjured up here caught between a dream and an urban setting. There seem to be the lights of a tower block behind her and the swirl of white water in the bottom right corner like she's sitting on a bridge above a river. I love the way you can barely see her face but not so keen on the bikini-top or are they shells?Anyway,a beautifully mysterious image which I have enjoyed-immensly,regards Tony.
