About ATACUS ATLAS,This moth is between 28-30cm big! Strange about this specy is that she only has till 14 days to mate and lay eggs and dies cos she has no organs to eat with and digest.Even the tongue is missing. Normally lives in Asia. On the top wings you see a snakehead, down in the middle a heart.A sad story about such a beauty..

About the picture: because the wingspan was so huge it was hard to get the center sharp, a little blur...Tips to solve this are more than welcome.

What an incredible photograph and a fascinating about. This really is a giant, I thought the Owl Butterfly was big (which we get a lot of here in the UK butterfly houses) - but this really is huge !!!

Best wishes,
Steve

Great macro. The colors are wonderful.
The info given with the shot makes it that much more interesting.

Very interesting species in that it's so huge... quite a few moths do not have digestive organs and don't feed, also nocturnal. Sad that they only live to reproduce? Very nice image, thanks for the About.

wow!! what a butterfly!! it's really big!

mmmmmmm you haven't mentioned the aperture ,, however, a smaller aperture should have solved the out-of-focus problem.

regards,
Ned
