The bigger question is did YOU make it out of that one? Love this shot - I like how you get right in there and shoot. Aren't you afraid of taking your camera into the water?! I think you are a brave brave soul Sean. Love your work.

jim,
i only work in the water with a select few. most times when i take the shot i'm within a few feet of them. it's all about timing and understanding what the water is doing around you. i've had a few close calls but nothing serious, yet. i also wear a helmet most times but it really depends on the break that we're surfing. reef breaks i always wear it while it's a toss up on beach breaks depending on how big the surf is.
