About A variation of an earlier image which I don't tend to do. The negative was scratched, torn, bleached and taped back up and then scanned and manipulated in PS.

Great idea Mark.....sometime you just have to do it! Tear those negs up!
Excellent sense of dereliction and decay...great piece of art..

This is great. Its inspiring me to start shooting film again, even if it is just to experiment! Long live film hey?

You have litterally scratched the surface with this one Mark and sometimes it takes such manipulation to get to reality of such a image and its identity of the subject matter. A fresh approach.

Hi Kym

Yeah though I'm kind of over the guilt thing now. I just tell myself "it's all in the name of art" or something. I also take multiple shots only because I know that if only take the one shot I will over do the abuse or the result will be just plain naff then I will be left without the shot.

I have just started to experiment with burning the neg until the emulsion starts to blister but I haven't quite got it down yet so I can't post anything. I must admit the lab I use is often stunned at what I hand to them across the counter

As for coming to NZ, no problem just pack that lensbaby.

Cheers
Mark

Kudo's Mark, it's so hard to actually damage/destroy a negative isn't it? I've had to resort to taking two frames of the same scene to help me get over the aversion/fear of hurting negs.

I believe Emil Schildt has coined the term "Kill your darlings" (or something similar) for doing this sort of damage. It's amazing how liberating it can be.

Anyway, I love this image, the deconstruction, toning, composition, everything just pulls together very well here. I swear I'm going to come visit you in New Zealand and force you to take me to see all these great places you show us. :)

An interesting image, i don't like deconstruction, but i like the idea, the image quality and the effects.
