About
There are 2 North American varieties: Honey Locust (Gleditsia triancanthos) and Black Locust (Robinia pseudoacacia). I don't know which one this is, but they throw out these beautiful thorns off their barks, hence I guess the species name, pseudo (false) acacia (or the gum tree, you would see Giraffes eating off of, in the African landscape). No wildlife today, so this colorful lichen-laden trunk close-up taken one rainy afternoon should do..... :0)!
Excellent photo, my friend and what a coincident! We are just under a locust attack. We have been told that this year the locust was not sufficiently exterminated in Africa and the wind now blows it here. Fortunately we can exterminate it here and we also have a relatively cold year, so we don't expect much damage. Thank you, Sudhir, for your very friendly comment on my "Bottles behind bars 2". Here, when you are caught driving after having drunk alcohol and are lucky enough not to have killed yourself and those who were with you in the car, you get your driver's locence suspended. There are, however, voices that call for more severe punishments, as each weekend there are fatal car accidents due to alcohol (and drugs). Best regards and thanks again for your beautiful photo and for your comment on mine, Rafi
