I guess I missed the point. Me and my 300 lbs just appreciate the sheer beauty of the scene. Del.

lol, Funny, I did find contrasting oppistes within the photo.... Antithesis is word I haven't used since I don't know when. Now it is fresh in my vocabulary and I aim to get some milage out of it. Hope your having a great holiday.

Pat earlier in my portfolio I posted three photos which I called the American Dream 1-3. This sprawl of signs and chaos seems the opposite of the peaceful images I posted earlier.
You have a lovely photogenic state!

Joann I agree about the phone lines but in a way they deserve to be there as part of the chaos. I could easily have a panic attack when confronted by a mass of road signs and invitations to eat as shown in my photo. I guess I am just a small town girl at heart.

Rebecca the same happens in some areas of NC - especially around here. It makes a difference if the size and colours of the signs are somewhat controlled. Often shopping areas are themed so that nothing stands out too loudly. Makes mental note to take more photos...

Every town in America has a corner like this. Lynchburg is trying to preserve a little dignity and beauty on the streets ( so they say) by limiting the size of the signs. This ought to get interesting :)

"Everytown USA" is true. Sad and ugly, though a good photo.

were you coming down a hill when you shot this? The perspective is very interesting.
Too bad you could not have been on the other side of the phone lines, but then again, they do figure into the overall theme of the image.
A great capture. I'm sure many will identify with it, as it is everytown usa.

The composition and content of this image is superb. The washed out color is a bit distracting. What your image says to me is much the same as many I've taken as well... "it ain't real pretty, but it's still a part of America."

Okay Gabrielle please pardon my ignorance. Is it the little flag and big McDonald sign and the big flag a little Wendy's sign that you are pointing out. I studied this for a few minutes before I finaly looke up Antithesis to make sure I understoof the word.
