About Shot in my home using natural light. No time spent on make up/clothes just wanted to test out the possibilities of a room to shoot in and some compositional ideas. Employed neg space here and hopefully gave it some meaning by looking back towards it.
Neg scan and 400 film - hence a bit grainy.

A tad too little light hitting the model's face but I like the overall picture. . .

Hi Matt. Great use of negative space.

Thanks for your comments. To answer your question, I haven't done as much location work as I'd like, and that particular shot was done on my back porch with the available (artificial) light. Hence it could be lit better! But as long as you have a tripod so that the picture isn't blurred, I find you can get interesting results just with whatever light is around.

David,
Again you've picked out some of the points I felt were strong in this photo. The relationship of neg space and models body facing away from it!
This was why I commented on your shot earlier - just the kinda photo I like.

matt... beautiful. i love the grain and the shadow. terrific light. the thing i like the most is that her body is facing out of the frame with the negative space behind her. it changes the entire mood of the shot rather than having her faced into the frame. gives it more of a closed, lonely feeling. i like that. the faint smile on the woman's face is works great here... david
