Very nice! I think the lighting looks great... especially since you say it was stormy and dark! This photo is great... there are no distractions at all from your adorable little boy! I love the coloring you chose for this... and I love your son's expression and the way he is standing! This is so cute, it looks like he is in the middle fo singing or something! Excellent work... :)

I disagree -- rainy days are perfect for window light -- Rainy-day window light is best for such photography -- less glare for the sun's light is filtered by the clouds and rain -- helps retain teh soft tones of teh human skin -- lends the mood of warmth and comfort being inside -- helps the viewer focus on your subject (good ole Sam!)-- also I disagree with the comment that the eyes need highlights -- not in this case because of the mood of the softness wants to keep this study impressionistic -- also as mentioned above, his body language and his smile are doing the talking -- are speaking his soul's words instead of his eyes.

I got my 50mm out again the other day, too. This is nice...I like his body language and the very shallow dof. He could use a touch more light in his eyes.
