About A Lipizzaner stallion performs a capriole during a performance at our local fairgrounds' arena. I was fortunate that someone on the other side happened to take a flash photograph at the same time I took this one because the lighting wasn't very bright, especially in our bleacher seats. 1/80 @ F2.8, ISO = 200, camera on tripod.

The amazing thing about the horses is that all of these moves are pretty natural to the horse. The trick is to train them to do it on command. Originally, the horses were trained to use the moves on the battle field. It has a really neat history behind it!
I love you Daddy! Happy Father's Day( or day after!)

Wow, what a shot, that doesn't even look possible for a horse to get that high.

Thank you, Joe. What adds to the amazement of these beautiful horses is that after the horse jumps in the air it also kicks back its hind legs, which is very difficult. I'm glad you enjoyed the photograph. Rodney

Both these images are great, I like the slightly better than the other one. The other conveyed movement and the full stretch on the horse, but this is just wonderful, both horse and man in mid air - a real action capture. I also love the shadow. Really excellent
Margaret
