Something else I forgot to mention. Slide film has very little exposure latitude. In the case of this picture, the cameras exposure meter was fooled by all the bright snow. When shooting snow, esp. with slide film, either bracket 1 and 2 stops over, or spot meter on a gray card. If you don't already have a gray card, they are very inexpensive and available in most camera stores.
Devin, Nice subject and good use of DOF but, I think this is way underexposed and very soft. I don't know if the soft focus was deliberate, a mistake when the image was shot or a result of a poor scan. Images when scanned usually loose sharpness and have to be sharpened in editing software. This one brightened up and sharpened nicely in a few seconds in PS Elements.
