About Another one from my recentrip, to Peling, in West Sikkim, India. This is one of the many small local streams. I have used Photo Delux to make this a black and white image.

Angelo , its very very wet now and I certainly would not recommend a visit to those hills now as there is a huge risk of land slides. My office colleagues are now holding a meeting in Gangtok and when they come , they will be able to give me some more ingo about the weather there. I will let you know as soon as I get it. May be noext time you should stay in Kolkata during the monsoons for a few days. I believe its the second best time to photograph Kolkata and its people , the first being our festival of Durga Puja in October.

Debarshi, I don't think I'll get to spend much time in Calcutta/Kolkata. Arriving in the morning, then catching an early afternoon flight so Bagdogra...

I hope the rain has alleviated a bit by then (mid-August). How wet is it right now?

A very nice and moody landscape, Debarshi-ji. Not as sharp as it could have been, but the compositon and use of tones and tonal contrasts is very good.

Thanks for the observation Daniel. I had also planned for a slow shutter speed. But the main problem was that I had to take this shot from a Cable hanging bridge. And this particular bridge had a swaying movemnt as the winds in this particular area are very strong. Thats why I could not use a slow shutter speed. Incidentaly I had taken another frame with a slow shutter speed but that turned out totally blurred just because of the fact that the bridge itself was swinging.

Debarshi,
I love the v-shaped negative space at the top of the frame, and the overall composition has a very nice depth to it, with the rocks laying in the foreground that slowly lead us to the background up the image. I wonder if you would have been better served with a slower shutter and smaller aperture - that might have allowed for greater Depth of field and created more of silky look for the running water...Great shot!

Very beautiful vertical landscape, nice diagonal.
BTW: if it is motion blur, you could try Focus Magic, a nice piece of software for this purpose (saved some otherwise lost shots); 10 imgs free to try as far as I remember

Thankyou Ella. The reason for this soft focus was that I had taken this shot from a cable hanging bridge, and a car has just crossed it and there was a fair amount of vibration and swing on the bridge. When I took the shot I was pretty sure that I had wasted the shot, but now I think that it has not come out that bad.
