Mary after viewing "We Walk Holding Hands" I just had to take another look at your sunset/sunrises...This is another stunning view...You have a kind and wonderful way of saying and seeing things, and I'm so glad to be here at UF where I get the chance to see this kind of work...Just beautiful and so nice too that others are so willing to offer their knowledge...Wonderful image and words, thank you...:):)Linda

What a magnificent sky. I often look at sunset pictures and think "the sky doesn't look like that." But the next thing I know, I look at a real sunset and realize "Yes it really does." The colors in your picture are really beautiful. Nice work.

I also want to thank you for the congratulations on my shot taking Best Color Photograph. The image itself is also in my portfolio if you care to see the shot in detail.

Mary, this is beautiful, the silohuetted trees below and the combination of dark and red in the clouds compliment each other just perfectly. I really do like this one. Del.

Let there be one, lonely, voice exoressing regret that the house had to be deleted and the birds added. I don't feel that just because we CAN make any changes we want to an image this means we necessarily SHOULD. I'd also prefer to call the result of such changes (which I gladly recognize improve the image, as they did here) "photo art," rather than a "photograph." Honesty, and fidelity to the original image, surely still has something to be said for it, even if it's a very tiny minority view on Usefilm.

Very dramatic. I like the updated version, but I am not convinced that the original was not level to begin with. Looking at the base of the cloud formations, and the way the light scatters, has my thinking you had it right in the first place.

It looks great with the changes! I'm glad you didn't crop the tall tree on the right, as that is another strong element in this. It is really worth the effort. Gorgeous scene Mary! Antonia.

Thanks Mary for your comment on my DROPS pic.
I am amazed at your Sunset pictures. the color and tone are great. I use a 35mm SLR Nikon most of the time and i wonder if i use the same settings as ur digital camera, will i get the same or similar result on the color film prints?
I am still not so good with using Manual Mode on my Nikon F55.
Best regards

Manuel

Thank you, Amna. I appreciate your taking time to make adjustments to my picture. I like what you did. I also opened it again on my computer to see if I could do the corrections on my own. A little bit at a time, I'm learning things thanks to UF friends. I now know where in PS to go to rotate the horizon. Thanks.

Hi Mary,

Beautiful capture. The colours and image set a mood we are all familiar with. And that feeling is tranquility, and warmth. Well done.
I like the repost you did better as I feel it better frames your image.

you captured the perfect moment of the sunset, Mary-- I don't think the colors could get any better than these-- and the birds swirling around are lovely.

Toni, thanks for the wonderful advice. Geesh, I missed the house. I almost left a black wire across the top like in one of my others, but noticed it on closer inspection. My monitor must need to be replaced, it's not showing things in proper detail. The house I didn't note nor the slightly crooked horizon. Inserting the birds was just something I was trying to learn. Otherwise the sunset is as I saw it. Anyway, I've tried to make the changes you suggested. I am not sure I did the birds right. I have (hopefully) attached my new version. Thanks for helping a newbie.

very beautiful sunset...I like the composition and I think adjusting the horizon and cropping the house will make it look even better. After your premission I did some adjustment

Wonderful sunset colours, Mary.
Best regards, Chris
P.S. I would agree with much of Antonia's helpful advice, particularly in respect of losing the white halo around the birds. IMO this could only improve an already striking image.

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:30599} 5/8/2005
Mary, this is a wonderful moment you've captured. The silohuetted branches of the trees are beautiful against the rich orange hues of the sunset. Also, I like the darks at the top and bottom. My suggestions: right the horizon, crop out the house, and darken the birds to a silhohuette. I might even tighten the crop all the way around so that the branches and sun figure even more prominently, because those are the "sweet spots" in the image for me. Antonia
