About Shot a few months back. I came across it and decided I liked it. The shadowing effect is caused by the moon being off-center in the telescope.

i have a scope too, and so far only been shooting the moon too. City and light pollution and could hardly see any stars. and yeah, like you, the images are soft, sometimes due to slight shake, and movement of moon, as well as atmospheric conditions. You make your own scope, cool. got to learn from you.

Thanks, Jasmine. Yeah, between the movement of the moon (my telescope doesn't have a motor drive to track the moon), the shake of the telescope (homemade) and the camera shake (I drink too much caffiene), all but 2 or 3 of the shots came out looking like LSD flashbacks. :)
I like your work and can always use suggestions. Thanks again for the comments.

I see the moon, how amazing it looks. Pic looks a little soft, could be due to slight motion or handshake. But still, a good shot of the moon.

Thanks, Rusty. The funny thing is that I took this with a $65 digital point and shoot, but I can't seem to make it work with my Nikon D70. Also, I had to take about 200 shots and only got 2 or 3 worth keeping. It was a pain!

GREAT shot, Blaine! What telescope do you use? I ask because I have a particular interest in astrnomy - have a Celestron C8 which is one of my most prized possessions.

Kind regards
Rusty

PS. Sorry! Only saw your footnote after making the above comment. Still, obviously an excellent instrument - congratulations.
