Hi Pat, I'm a greenhorn in this arena but I'd just like to say this is an awesome shot. I've read all the comments below, wow. To me photography is magic, I like to sit and watch and be amazed like a child would be. I'm also interested in learning some of the tricks that make images like this. My thoughts are I'm thankful someone a long time ago invented the light bulb so I can read my PS CS manual at night.
Signed,
PS Junkie

The effect is superb, Pat. Totally appropriate and expertly applied. (And quite some "turbulence" generated too!)
All the best, AJ

whats up with that comment Junior, This is just a good photographer having some fun with PS, we all do it from time to time and even go overboard at times as it gets our creative juices flowing. as you can see there are many Awesome pics in his portfolio and to me this is a nice expression of his creativity. Im not one to insult others photo unless its constructive but after looking at your 3 shots, the last one is begging for some grain removal, and the others do nothing for me, maybe some ps would spice them up LOL.....
Marcus.....

It might haven been me Pat - the rating system (apparently) will give less credence to those who rate high on the scale all the time - since I only rate photos that I find impressive and rate at the 6-7 range, then the system takes that into consideration. I find it a fallible system and hate it, but I like to show my support for things I like. SORRY if it was my doing. I didn't mean to drop it down as I gave it a 7 AND recommended it for POD... :)

Dear Pat,

I thank you for setting me straight on my miscommunication regarding this forum. No malaise was ever intended on my part, whatsoever. I also know my snap shots are crummy, but that?s why I?m here, as to improve my photography.

No apologies are needed on your part, but I do extend my deepest apologies to you for this blatant disregard of respect towards your Art? I have never been accused of having tack?(lol) What do expect from a Hillbilly anyway?

My deepest apologies once again,

Jr. Martin

Pat,

Great photo and great final response. You know I bet if Ansel Adams was alive today he would be having a ball with Photoshop. He was always one to embrace new technology if it improved the image. He would have been totally amazed at the control you have with todays modern tools. And that is just what they are, "Tools". You still need to have the artistic vision and skill to create something that will draw attention and not look like the mass of mediocre images that we are flooded with all day long.

With this image you have created something really nice that catches the imagination of the viewer and really makes you feel the speed. Keep up the good work I look forward to seeing more.

Phil

Allright JR. I have cooled off some. But I do have a point to make. I am not sure where you got it in your head that photography ends the moment after the shutter closes. I have studied the greats. All, and I mean ALL, use/used post proccessing techniques in the darkroom. Bending paper, burning and dodging, AIrbrushing negatives. and many many other techniques. Photoshop is a natural extension of those pioneering techniques.

This art is about the end result and not about how that result was achieved. If you want to limit yourself to the abilities of yor camera, that is fine. However, is today's world if you want to make images that impress the masses you will be handcuffed without the use of modern tools. The proccess does start with a good exposure.

In closing, You have made my point for me. You first rated this image a 7 (the result of my work) And only after learning how that result was achieved did you become offensive...

To insult an artist for the tools he used after you have congradulated on the beauty of his work is just silly at best..

Please, If you want to move foward, open your mind.. And please, watch what you say to artists, we can be a hot headed bunch. Casting out insults can only lead to further insults.. and does no good for anybody.

my aplogize for use of inapropriate language...

Allright, now that is an insult. In SOuth Dakota we say F_ _ _ K You! ANd then we go out back!!!!!!!

GetIt!

There is absolutly no call for that sort of remark on this web site...

Now if you where a great photographer I would take it to heart, But honestly your snap shots leave alot to be desired.. they are grainy, Have no contrast and very dull.... Perhaps you should get a box of crayolas!

And BTW. That is a marketing shot for a very well know racing team and they are paying big bucks for the shoot..

Have a nice life...........

Awesome shot Pat,

I was your 2nd feedback, But after reviewing how & what you did, I must say that your photo is a product of the computer age and not that of a great photo. You froze the car in time with a very fast shutter speed and then added the motion via computer enhancement. My humble apologies for this Critique my friend, but if it doesn't kill you it will make you stronger? Perhaps you should go into marketing instead of Photography?

My best to you and yours,

Jr. Martin

Pat,

Couldn't be me: I seldom rate a picture and I'm pretty sure I didn't select a rating for this one.

I didn't say you wanted to fool anyone...

Apologies for the misunderstandings.

Patrick Ziegler Patrick Ziegler   {K:21797} 6/1/2005
Ahhh man you dropped below a 6 :-(

I appreciate your honesty but, the Photshop was ment to be blatent as this is a graphic art work as much as a photograph...

Not trying to fool anyone...

Pat,

My honest opinion: Photoshop is too blatant and obvious in this one. I much preferred the unedited version.

Thanks for showing these images, and thanks also for your kind comment.
