About	Another shot from the Cibola National Forest. Just happened to look down and notice this expired ant at the bottom of a bowl-shaped rock. Very strange. Oh yeah, "ameise" is German for "ant".

I did end up cropping the picture. It helped quite a bit. I posted it recently. Thanks for your advice.

Thanks, Ian. The original reason I did not crop it is due to reletively low resolution of my S1 (3.2MP), but I didn't even try it. I tried it upon your recommendation and it's FAR better. Thanks! I will be posting it next. I have a Nikon circular polarizer (52mm-62mm) that I had set on a raised portion of the rock, that and the image stabilization on my camera made for quite a crisp shot. Again, thanks!

Crop it down or blow it up, if you took it with a high resolution camera setting. The subject is the demised ant and it is lost on the rock. When you try to blow it up you will realise how important a tripod and remote release is, or at least a delayed shutter release. At worst a diffused electronic flash, commonly called 'bounce flash' will give you 1000th sec and better aperture setting for maximum depth of field. Ian Pearson
