About I took these photos of the September 27 1996 total lunar eclipse, with the camera through a Celestron C8 telescope (2000mm at F/10). This digital montage of a series of exposures shows the Moon's progress through the Earth's shadow over the course of three hours. But the Moon never completely disapeared. At totality, the Moon turned into a vivid rust-orange color due to some sunlight being refracted off the Earth's atmosphere. If an astronaut would be standing on the Moon, he would see a bright red ring around the Earth - essentially a sunrise and sunset all at once!

Hi Ken,

Thanks so very much for commenting. It's appreciated. I noticed a trend on UF too. Too bad, cause there are lots of amazing photographers that I know of, that deserve a lot more praise than they actually receive.

Hi Pierre,

What a lovely sequence. Beautiful and educative.

And YET only 14 people chose to comment !!!!!!!!!.

Something is seriously wrong with usefilm. Stupid frivolous images getting serious attention and adoration and images like this one being neglected !

That's not right.

regards,
ken.

Thanks for commenting Mary! This is the first time I put this sequence together from the old photographs I had. I turned out better than expected considering how dirty the prints were.

Great presentation. Thanks for the lesson. I'd never thought about what an eclipse would look like from the moon. -- Naomi
