Thanks Don - forgot that previously you had suggested how I could difuse the lighting. Put all of the suggestions I get in to a photo hint doc - guess I had better organize it by subject and read it once in awhile until things stick in my brain. LOL PS - really appreciate you taking the time to comment and advice - please continue to do so when you have the time. Thanks Jan

Thanks Peta - yep, a macro will probably be my next major purchase, but it will need to wait for awhile - good lens or any kind are sure pricey! Jan

Guido - thank you for your comments. So far, am shooting in JPG, but have other options with this camera to explore. I use Photoshop 7.0 to frame and tweak when necessary (or play when I have time)on Windows XP. Will upgrade my lens and get additional when I can. Yes, they are expensive, but really want one of the macro, long-focal length, lens.

The pink flower is beautiful but that white bloom seems to take your eye away from the main attraction. You might try holding back some light on a white area like that with a card or diffuser. Just my ideas. Don.

I was so excited for you when robbie told me about your purchase! Canon rules Jan, whoo hoo! Now you need the 60 or 100mm macro! Have fun!

nice flower composition. Congrats with your new camera. Pity good lenses are very very expensive. I was at first very very disapointed with my 300D. 18-55 lens isnt that good.and all affordable Canon lenses are plastic. 50mm 1.8II lens is better,if you can focus it right. The focus point is extremely narrow. I started using old second hand Russian Manual lenses with good satisfaction. They fit Canon with M42 adapter ring. Can't get any sharp images out of canon software. I am using Windows and maybe the software is better on Mac. I am shooting RAW images only and using Capture One Le from Phase one Software giving me a good colour balance and sharp images too. Best regards Guido.
