About

This one is for Eko Sumartopo. He suggested that I should have done a horizontal crop on the image 'Nature's Showcase'. I did actually do some horizontal crops of that scene but rather than upload a very similiar image I chose to upload this image which is taken at the same location but at a different angle. I haven't increased the colours in these images. Just the play of the light across the area.

PJ I know this one is using the polarizer....LOL!! Thanks for your advice. I really appreciate it.

Enjoy.

BTW...thankyou to the anonymous rater.

Wonderful perspective shot Judi, I love the dried grass along the side of the road, nice use of blues and golds, the layering of the clouds is wonderful for creating depth, the vanishing point is just great..I never use ratings either. I would never rate anyone unless I gave them a 7 and that 7 isn't a seven so why bother. And for people to come along and sabotage an image like that is just plain evil, I also thought you had to leave a comment, that you couldn't just leave a rating...anyway this is more of your wonderful work...:):)Linda

Hehehehe...I tried to give you a 7 but it wouldn't let me. That is how I got the message that ratings 1 and 7 require a comment. I gave you a 6 to see if it would work. It was purely experimental...LOL!!

Randy Lorance Randy Lorance   {K:24769} 8/1/2005
You mean to tell me you didn't give it a 7? !!!

LOL...OK, that answers that, seems like a good solution would just be no anonymous ratings. I just decided to drop them.

Okay I just left a rating on this image without a comment.

http://www.usefilm.com/image/571658.html

It says a rating of 1 or 7 requires a comment....so people can leave a rating from 2 to 6 without a comment.

Now that should answer your question.

Nice cut Judi, I think a vertical cut is what anyone would think for this subject, but in this case I've to admit your choiche of a wide landscape orientation is Great!

Best regards. fabio

The open road never looked so good! This really has a great 3D look. This type shot has been done many times but rarly with such striking results.
> about the rating thing, it's been quite some time since I've heard noises about rating abuse. In the past anonymous rating(ie-no name) was possible, but even without accompanying comment, doesn't a person's name still appear? <

I agree Liz. Some people have nothing better to do with their time then feed their jealousy. Such a sad predicament.

I am pleased that both you and your hubby liked it.

The great open road... nice photo, Judi. Love the strong colours, so much your trademark.

The composition is good, but I wish you had one of the white lines closer to the foreground and more prominent.

Not only do you have a road with beautiful countryside on all sides, Judi. But you have a road so bereft of traffic that you can stand in the middle of the road and take a picture of that trafficless road without getting squashed like a bug. Congratualtions on choosing a great scene to photograph and to live in. Larry

You live in the best of all worlds, Judi. You have beautiful countryside as well as water to shoot. Add mountains, and I would move there. I like your composition looking straight down the road. Nicely done all around.

This sums up what I imagine the open road to look like across that vast empty space that is Australia - straight, flat, no traffic, disappearing into the distance. My description is probably too much of a cliche, but you've captured that here...

Ah, I see now. You drive in the middle of the road in Oz. Good idea. It's been Australia day for us today. We've had 3 phone calls from friends down there. It never rains but it pours.
Love the saturation and the perspective here Judi. Get the feel of wide open spaces.

hey Judi, I really did think that you weren't able to do that, with the ratings, I just came back to show my husband this picture because I had driven up to Warwick a few weeks ago and this was like what I saw. Things are getting pretty bad around here with the ratings thing!!!!! So sad to think that people would do that.:(

Great colors! Everyday scene made interesting.

Judging from all your photos, I bet it's easy for you too.

I haven't been here long enough to figure out the rating scale...but it is a real nice photo...

Yep, BTW I know it stands for NAR (Near a road....LOL)!!! But I'm sure I read somewhere that leaving just a rating isn't possible and that you have to leave a coment along with it or it won't go through....??!! Can't see the point in just rating though or it would be done to 'sabotage' a score.... very, very childish..... go get a life I would say to such a person..... but hey we all know better looking at some of the/your masterpieces....!!!!!

  0

Judi Liosatos Judi Liosatos   {K:34047} 7/31/2005
Hi Petal. BTW stands for By The Way!!!

And yes you can definitely leave a rating without a comment. Unfortunately.

Staring into infinity would also be a good one!!! Nice bottle tree on the right, wonderful colors, great view and you'd better watch it.... standing in the middle of the 'highway' can be dangerous.... (with all that traffic wizzing by... LOL... got one of those as well, but not as beautiful as this one!!), excellent symmetry and composition... well captured!!! Maybe it's me but... how can you leave a rating and do it anonymously, or isn't that what you ment with the BTW???

Absolutely stunning colors, exact composition and total dof. The reason I like the image though is that it brings back memories from a car ride from Sydney to northern Queensland back and forth..this is the kind of fantastic landscape i could see through the window most of the time.

Good on ya mate
