About Mexican Bird of Paradise grows well here in the Phoenix, AZ area. You can also find the yellow variety. Thank goodness the day was very cloudy or these blossoms would have glowed in the dark!

Thanks Darlene - check out the photo that Don Loseke uploaded today of the same flower. Wow! I am going to upload another shot I took of the Mexican Bird of Paradise blossoms - should be a nice comparison. Think I told him that his upload left mine in the dust. LOL Jan

Gorgeous image Janice, I love these flowers! You've done a beautiful job capturing this "bird," not an easy color to get right but you did! Wonderful lighting and composition!!!

This must bloom all the time. It is out in the fall when we get there...This is the best light for this flower. Don.

Thanks Susie - these usually are seen in an upright position (sort of like candles) on the bush. This one caught my eye it was so contrary. Jan

Thanks Mary - guess I need to take a picture of the whole thing so that there is some perspective in how they grow. Will put that on my list of to-do's. Jan
