About Abandoned house on a country road, outside of Creemore Ontario. Thanks to a painter friend of mine who tipped me off to it's location. Shot mid-day under very tricky lighting conditions (sun in and out of the clouds).

Hi Richard,
Here is a shot of the "Old House" that I said I would post. The quality is a little iffy, due to a poor negative scan. But people seem to like it anyway:)

Richard,
Some of the first photos I uploaded here are of my brother shooting instamatic photos of an old broken down farm-house. I took them in 1971. The house was lived in by the farmer who sold my dad our cottage lot. Why he ever moved from that spot to build his new house, I'll never know. The "Old House" was right on a bend of some beautiful rapids on the Madawaska River. (Palmer Rapids On)
I suppose he wanted his house to be closer to his fields. What a great piece of land it still is. Currently there is a white water kayaking camp situated where his old house used to be.

There is not much of the house in these photos, but if you are interested, you could check out my "Photographer's Apprentice" photos. way back in my portfolio.

I can see why the new ownwers of this property chose this location. Although exposed to the elements on top of a hill, the view is stunning. It will be shame to see the structure go in favour of something more modern, but sadly the structure looks beyond repair.

Hi Richard,
There is evidence of this sort of thing all over north of Toronto. Old estates and farm-houses are dissapearing before our eyes. They are moving some of the solid old brick places. I suppose that is something, but it's not the same when they are not in their original surroundings.

Yes Andre, I will go back. I only hope I can capture some worthy images of this fine structure, before it is lost forever. I am told the property has been purchased, and and the house scheduled for demolition.

Richard,
I agree with your own assessment on this one. The tricky lighting conditions are probably contributing to the over-all flat look. I know you will go back again and try in the early evening or morning when the sun is at a better angle. These old places are great to photograph. there are so many of these opportunities in Ontario.

I think that this is a really good place where a lot of good pictures can be made...

Thanks Alexander. You may be right, this image is almost untouched. It seems bright enough on my monitor, but it certainly wasn't the best time of day to shoot. I plan to return this fall to get some more artistic shots.

Nice place... I think you might edit it in PS a liitle bit to more contract, make it lighter, etc...
