About I was trying to capture a crisp yet subdued shot of these lilies that would look the way I wanted when converted to a black & white image. What do you think?

Very striking, Janice. It is a beautiful B&W. The diagonal type composition is wonderful.

Thank you so much for your kind words Melanie. I am glad you like this shot. It is so exciting when something you are trying to do turns out good enough for an upload, so I was happy to get this shot out of many that I took while practicing. Jan

Hi Janice,
Generally the "colour "is important for the flowers,
but you could chose a good example for B&W picture..
Congrats and best regards.. :)

Thanks Marcia - No, Rob lives on the east coast, Sam III lives here as does our daughter, and our son Mike and his wife Jennifer (a donor here) live in OK. Nice that we can share what each other has been "up to" on usefilm - and learn from each other via e-mail and phone calls. Jan

Thanks Jude - quite a compliment coming from you - considering the lovely B&W's in your portfolio. Isn't it fun to learn to do new things? Jan

Thank you very much Lynne - slight change of pace for me, but I am trying to learn new things and don't want to get stuck in just one particular style of photography just yet. Still looking for my niche. Jan

Thanks Rob - do you get a vote on recognition? LOL - guess this one replaces your other black & white favorite (A Formal Affair) that I uploaded?

Jan Graziano   {K:17920} 8/27/2005
Thanks Wez - really struggled with the lighting on this one. A lot of shots were blown - some my camera wouldn't even take (i.e. not enough light, too close, wrong settings, etc.) and a few came out okay. Thank heavens for digital - could afford to do this with film. (Been there and done that, but I was still working!) Jan

Ghosts - what ghosts Ellen - I know I am having problems with my eyes and camera's viewfinder - but thought my eyes and monitor were working just fine! Thanks for liking this one and commenting. Sure is difficult to get out of a rut isn't it? Jan

Jan Graziano   {K:17920} 8/27/2005
Thanks Peter - guess he isn't as he has told me in no uncertain terms what he does not like about some of my shots - he normally has a pretty good eye and he is very artistic - so is his brother Rob and his other brother Mike. (Mike isn't a usefilm member, but his wife Jennifer is.)

Well I don't know if I count because I am really biased, but this is a stunning shot. The ghosts in the background are perfect it makes it more interesting that way. This is a nice crisp clean image, very good Jan.

WOW, I Love the way you presented this Mom, The softness of the lilies is incredible.

I Love the way the whites flow in with the shadows. The Details are amazing.
This is probably one of the Best B&W floral I have ever seen.
You have a winner here
