I actually haven't been using the "C" mode too much lately, I just press the shutter half way to focus on what I want. I was having problems with the "C" mode by taking shots without paying attention. I don't have a button on the lens, but have been using the AE/AF button to try to lock exposure, didn't know I could use that to set focus, very good info that I'll definitely try out. Thank you.

Nice shot Eric with the 4-5.6 Lense! Does your lense have a lock focus button on the end of it? That will help in "C" mode if you use it. As well you can se the AE/AF button to be the focus button only. Each setting can help with specific shots. I found having the AE/AF button my focus button great for action shots, focus auto once, leave it and only hit it when I needed it..

the C and S have nothing to do with Detail, they both are for focus. If you hold down the shutter half way the S will focus once, even if you move the camera. If you have "C" Set and you hold down the shutter half way and move the camera it will continually focus on images as you move. I've left my sharpness and everything on the defaults.

I know I sound stupid but I am just trying to make sure about most of this stuff. I have used some of it with the 5700 but not as many settings. which is suppose to be bet for very sharp detail C or S. just dont answer if it is getting on your nerves :)

Yea, the running man is the sports mode, supposed to take generic settings for capturing motion. Also when you go into the Menu, you can select focus (and you have a C or an S), they are for Single or continuous. Continuous will focus as you move or the subject moves. Single will only focus when you push down the shutter.

I actually had this in the sports mode and was using the single focus, not continuous. Your's will do the same, that lens seems to focus pretty quickly, as well, I took a ton of shots during the meet.
