Mark, all I know about harps, I learned from a friend/colleague in NYC who apprenticed himself to a master harp builder--all while he was working full-time. I had no idea of the intricate design and engineering that can go into a concert instrument. I'm happy to say that the harp tradition--along with music in general--is alive and well in Ireland. I intend to post a couple more shots of street musicians soon. Thanks for the good comments--and your good pictures. --g

The day I see something like that in the ole US of A I will be amazed. I hope people took time to listen. The green door the red hair. How could it not be Ireland.
I was reading that before the night of the battle they would put this special kind of harp, think it has metal strings up on a hill and let the wind go thru it to unnerve the enemy.
Did you see the pedals? You actually have to move your feet to get sharp's and flat's. Got to play stairway to heaven on one before. Sound's beautiful by the way.
Well you can tell what memories this picture did for me. :-)
