Hi Stefan, Speaking of sky... The darker sky background does work well here. It does create a little more of a darker mood over-all than the white sky in my similar shot. Andre

Fantastic mood in this image, Stefan. I'm a big fog fan, I love anything with fog, and this one's a great composition. Love the dark mood of the barren rock, the empty dark background, the dead branch. In fact it reminds me of the Greek mythology legend of the river Styx. That how I picture it. Fantastic job.

I can sympathize with the bite-sized conundrum. Nature makes her sandwiches so wonderously large, but it's a quandary for photographers. And my current camera has lockjaw.
At first glance, I felt the exposure was just a touch under, but at the same time, I like the strong shadows on the shore. For one, there's a contrast with the water, for two, there's a really cool sketch-like quality to the textures found there. I like the inclusion of the branch in the water as it provides a context for the photo. Without it, the shot would be pretty abstract (not saying that's a bad thing, just saying!) I like how the tranquil play of water, light and fog stave off the potential menacing atmosphere of the shoreline shadows.

You're absolutely right, Stefan - I have yet to get one that accurately conveys the feeling. You've done a great job with it, though! The dark backdrop is perfect for showing up even the wispiest little bits of fog! I know from your description that this is a gentle and benign scene, but it also has a very ominous feeling to it - something out of Lord of the Rings!

Hi Stefan, The bite size you've chosen here is perfect. At a guick glance the fog looked more like 'hot spring steam'. The brach holds the eye for 'third' interest. The golden sun on the near rocks...whole picture is lovely.

Very moody... love the dark tones and the atmosphere of the mist clinging to the water... it takes a lot of patience to capture mist when the light is just right... congratulations!

Oooh very eerie image. Like Mystery Island or something out of a horror movie. Great mood and I enjoy the floating branch. It adds interest. The rocks have nice clarity too and although a tad dark but I wouldn't want it changed in any way at all cause it works great just the way it is. Very nice photo. Cheers - Ann :)
