About Another photo of Yosemite. I thought this scene looked like a wonderland with the falls in the background and also because the melting snow was getting a steamy like fog on it from sun shining through a hole in the clouds over this spot. I had to wait for some time shooting many shots of this scene because the clouds kept covering the falls. You should all be pleased to know in keeping with my usual painstaking (waiting, waiting and waiting some more) experiences in the shooting of my photos that I froze my fingers for this one not to mention my butt but all in the name of fun - right?. :) Thank you all for taking the time to view my images and comment on them especially thanks for all the wonderful comments you all left on my El Capitan image. I was surprised and thrilled to get an SC Award for that one. I be a fat head now. :)

Cheers to you all - Ann :)

Ann,
Congrats on making the front page today with your critique of those panarama landscapes. It's nice to get that award every now and then. As I said to you yesterday, I always enjoy getting detailed, interesting and humorous comments from people. So, it is always interesting for me to see who gets on the front page becase of critiques. I think that is a very large part of what this site is about. Speaking of abouts.. Another thing that keeps people coming back to certain portfolios again and again is when they know that there will be an interesting explanation in the About section of the post. You always do a good job on this as well.

Boy, you sure do pick the difficult ones! I know this scene well too and it is very difficult to capture, any time of the year. You did a marvelous job here, though a shorter exposure time would have improved the saturation. If you understand the Zone System, clouds like this fall on about Zone 6, so a full stop under what the (spot) meter read from the cloud would have been ideal. A great shot, nicely framed and well spotted. Keep it up!

Haha Baha. How about a slap upside the head or a cold shower. ;) I enjoy your sense of humour. Cheers - Ann :)

It's not that I enjoy pain or anything. I just get great rewards from a nice photo I've taken myself.

Beautiful composition Ann. You really go through the wars for your shots at times, but it is so worth it. The end results outweigh the dis-comforts. It truely is a wonderland. Well done to you Ann...Best wishes..Ray

Thank you Susie. Did you receive my email with my question to you? No hurry to reply. Just wondering if you received it because sometimes new mail (as is the case with my Hotmail) goes to junk mail folders. I always check my junk mail folder before deleting anything. Cheers - Ann :)

Gayle, it was after last winter because the snow was already starting to melt. IT was quite mushy in places. I remember it was before my trip to Alaska too but can't remember exactly when. I guess if I checked the info on my photos the camera would tell me when these shots were taken. Cheers - Ann :)

Janet I couldn't hear anything but my teeth chattering. Yosemite is a plethora of waterfalls so you don't have to go far to hear them. Sometimes you can hear them but can't see them so you follow your ears until you can see it. It truly is a place of beauty as are all the National Parks in the US. Thanks for stopping by. Cheers - Ann :)

Just one image Jim. I did have very strange light in play that day with the sun coming and going and shining through holes in the clouds. It looked strange to me too and that's why I called it a Wonderland. It does look unnaturally surreal in places.

Thank you for taking the time to view and comment on my image. Cheers - Ann :)

Well worth freezing your butt off for...at least I think that while I view it in my comfy warm living room :) Love all the rich textures and colors! Those falls are spectacular! I imagine you are quite the distance away here, but can you hear them also??
Another award winning shot, Ann!

Stunning scene. Oddly though the greener trees surrounding the water look unnatural. It looks as though two images were put together to make one or the image was severely over sharpened. Regardless the clouds make for a very dramatic image.

Congratulations, Ann! You deserve it!
This is a great shot too. I really admire you for all the pains that you take in getting your shots. My sister and I had our cameras with us today and thought about taking some shots, but after about 5 minutes out in the cold and drizzle we headed back to the warm car :( Maybe we just don't have what it takes!
Well done, again, Ann!
