On the contrary, taming wildlife is illegal. They are wary but not frightened because they are not being hunted here. The focal length is 560mm. so subjects are not all that close, but close enough for me. Thanks for viewing and commenting, Paul! I'm very appreciative!

Thanks, Shirely. Yes, it is unusual and as I was shooting into the sun, there was some flare to remove, (more or less.)

Thanks for that, Shirley! Until I realized that background bokeh was an item, I was disappointed in the dragonfly hunt that day. It seems that I was hoping for something up close and intimate. Isn't that the way with photography?

Certainly flat country lends itself to sunsets! Likely, there is "big sky" potential, as well. I think you will get the hang of photographing in Texas!

I too like the foreground floral and low viewpoint. Though, I might not have included the tree trunk. For me, that extra touch is the pathway created by the oak leaves. Perfect! It looks to me that your postings are very much into retrospective mode. I might be doing much the same myself, since that is appropriate later on in life!

Regards, Wayne! It is difficult to keep an old horse alive! Looks like my first post was also in 2005. Usefilm is now antiquated, an anachronism. But, this has become true of me! So we might just get along quite well. We shall see...

Looks like Shirley D. Cross-Taylor is my only "usefilm" friend, remaining and currently posting here. She looked me up on my pbase site. Her recent "hello" reminded me of the good times had on usefilm, and so, I post these three owl high keys in her honour!

Wolf, I use Zerene Stacker. With insects, I usually stack from handheld focus slices. I typically manage a burst of 3 to 7 frames before there is subject movement. It doesn't always work, but gets better with practice.

A thoughtful comment, Chelsea! Personally, I feel that there is enough detail included in the upper part. However, I did take some wider shots which includes mountain peaks. As for vertical orientation, I did take some the following day but deliberately did not include any sky in order to simplify the composition. I am not suggesting that you are wrong, Chelsea - yours is a valid opinion!

Shirley, I find this image quite intriguing! It's a great abstract, almost non-representational if it were not for the twigs at the left. Are you shooting film again?

Thanks for your comment Ron! Part of getting this shot is purely foreshortened perspective and enough depth of field. When the jumper goes off the ramp, at maximum velocity, the boat does slow enough to keep the tow line slack. So the jumper is actually pulling even with the boat.
