Very powerful and sad photo when knowing the history. I like the way you have played with the tones in order to (maybe?) make it look like the lost souls moving beside the train.
Best wishes,
Annemette

hi melanie, ...its not too much to tell about "how i captured it" I just saw the interesting old man, and i just pressed the shutter button. I was on canon's AV, exposure program (aperture value) with an aperture of 1.8, and with a 1/60 exposure time. Iso was 400, for there wasn't too much light. Of course, i adjusted it photoshop, to obtain a special kind of textures on his face, a special color tone on his skin... actually now he looks a bit frightening, and i find that interesting cause when you look at his smile, and at his eyes, one cannot find anything that frightening regards, george

Wonderful portrait, especially in and around the left eye.All rather spoilt by the white blurry area around the right cheek and down to below the mouth.I'm sure you could sort it in PS with careful cloning or by selecting that area and then using Selective Colour- Black.Anyway, give it a try because it really is an excellent portrait.
Regards, Tony.

, thanks hermin for mentioning ... actually i really did not know what you meant by "cracking" ... by the way, the well trained dog, was actually a lonely, hungry frozen vagabond dog on the beach, feeding on the many dead birds lying there. I suppose the bird have died, because of the frost(we have this paranoia of Bird-disease in Romania, right now, so I hope they hadn't anything to with this)

cheers, george

Not bad, not bad. There is a bit of noise in the sky and the foreground is a wee bit oversharped, but the composition is cracking. Well trained dog.

( p.s. this is a positive feedback comment. )

Inca un comentariu pe romaneste de data asta... nu tin minte sa fi vazut vreodata marea inghetata, si sunt nascut in constanta. Oricum poza imi place foarte mult.

Numai bine,
Ciprian

Hello George
Depth: The condition or quality of being deep.
I wander how the picture would looked like if you have had take it at 2509 m (I mean jumping) on FEMEIA peak.

Hello Hermin. What exactly did you mean by "depth" ? They're just a few diffrent planes (one further than the other) which seem put one on the other, somehow because of the long focal distance (aprox. 200mm on film camera) The photo is taken from the top of the Bucegi mountains, the OMU peak (2507 m) in Romania. Regards
