First of all, I really like the border of this almost-square composition. Odd, to start there, but that is what I saw first. This is probably naturally occurring with the Diana's film gate ? I don't know, I've never had one. The blurry image and the motion shown by the (I think) kite are arresting and as fluid as a still picture can be. This is a case of something I would not produce but I can really appreciate it as a work unto itself instead of falling into the trap of imagining how I would do iy. I can just enjoy.

Some of you arty types like to use all the characters on the keyboard, but I am unable to decypher titles like this one!

Hey Aurore - haven't seen your photos in a long while. What I like about this picture is they all seem to be in the same stride. It has a little bit of "The Mod Squad" look about it with the girl's retro looking boots ;o)

Admittedly I like the 'story' more than the photo, but hey, what does it matter as long as I am glad I cliked on the thumbnail :-)

This is a very simple with a group of 4 walking ahead toward the ocean. Whilst some images lead the viewer into an image, this one forces the viewer to participate in the image itself.

By following the group in, it is not a stretch to have the viewer become part of the group. Without seeing faces, the viewer makes no association with the group. Rather, the viewer is forced to use personal experience with being in a group and this is where the image gets its strength.

People are social and being part of a group is natural. However, this is no ordinary group. This group has a defined purpose. All but one, including the viewer, looks straight ahead. They walk at a measured and purposeful gait. The man on the image right, looks around casually, but does not break off from the group itself. This group and their mannerisms imply a set purpose and determination. Associating with this group empowers the viewer with a common unified goal and the strength and determination to realize that goal that comes from the support of one?s peers.

A quick technical note. The small hair from the scanner above the multi-toned umbrella is really distracting.

I love these greens and reds. I am still a little confused about your family tree, but I think I need some coffee before I tackle that subject again :-) I also like the setup with your sister watching the boy, and the boy watching you (us). It creates a triangle of observation that I find interesting.

consistent because they really look like a team, even their behaviours seem the same (judging by the movement of hands)

I like the grainy atmosphere, sort of "family album" effect made anyway uneasy by the angry look of the boy in the foreground, about to throw his wapon against the viwer, the intruder...See you again!

Hi Aurore - I prably obmisspoke and was thinking more of the "cheapifications" (heavy vignetting etc) Carlheinz does on some of his photos, but looking through his portfolio there seem to be a few cases of digital edits which are reminiscent of the cross-processed look, at least he doesn't say that it was part of the treatment:

http://www.usefilm.com/image/327265.html
http://www.usefilm.com/image/443532.html

... but I suppose the main thing is that you knew about his work and the look he has been cultivating here.

Carlheinz's digital cross processing? Really? I thought he only used film. Or do you mean 'normal' film adjusted in ps to look xprocessed? I did look through his portfolio, and the xprocessed-looking work I saw actually was xprocessed in developing according to him. Will you point me to it?

I guess I forgot to put in the comments, that is actually me on the left. ; ) My digital gives a nice reflection in the lens so I can see what I'm shooting. I look intent simply because I hate to smile in pictures, and he looks intent because I've trained him not to smile at the camera... lol.
