Hi Shawn.....I commented in detail on your tulip photo the other day. I have to say I really like the unedited shot better here, but PS is so much fun isn't it ??

Beautiful kitty.....what is her/his name ??

Hi, I hope you don't mind me adding my similar shot to this critique....when I saw yours it just reminded me of mine....clearly you can see a difference in focus.....mine was taken with a Sony Cybershot F828, so by being digital I can skip the scanning part which I usually mess up.

Other than being in need of a sharper focus your composition is great. Maybe you can do a reshoot ?? Keep clicking.

Hi, had your camera and loved it....does wonderful macro work.....as does the F828 which I use now.....I think the only thing I would say negative is that the shot is out of focus....I like to composition you have a good eye.....maybe a reshoot ?? Make sure the camera is set on macro and that you steady it with either a tripod (which I hate) or keep your elbows close to your body and don't breath !! That's what I do....LOL

Oh, also, watch out for strong lighting like at the top of this shot.....maybe a different angle.

Hope you don't mind my comments, just trying to help.

Love the layers of the city....just not a real strong subject...the bridge would have worked if there was a bit more....keep clicking.

Good attempt, but it lacks good strong color and focus....also the crop is not very attractive. Keep clicking.

Thank you for taking the time to comment on my image and for tweaking it to look much better than it did originally. I was just passing through this spot (regular tourist thing), we were traveling down the coast on US 1 to Big Sur....I just thought the trees were pretty.

Hello Ken, nice cabbage you got here. I noticed that you haven't received any comments on this shot, so I hope you don't mind if I give you my take on your photo.

I have learned through many people telling me over and over again, plan your shot. Check the background, do some gardening if the shot is outside. Look at it from all angles.

Well, what I see in your shot is to many distractions. I think a different angle might have helped, but then I'm not there to know for sure.

I captured your shot and in PS gave it a real tight crop, then I used my burn tool and selectively burned some of the background that was left. I also used color balance to bring up the blue in the cabbage.

Great attempt, and hopefully, like me, you will learn something from every shot you take. Keep clicking.

Hello H.J. I noticed this shot didn't get any responses so I thought I would add my 2 cents worth hoping you don't mind.

I can see where you wanted to go with this shot, just not sure you got there. I believe that it needs a stronger focal point, say the hand...in order to obtain that you would need to sacrifice the steps which really don't add anything to this photo.

I took the liberty of capturing your photo and simply cropping it in PS. I realize that a reshoot would be what is needed here, but maybe this can give you an idea of what I have in mind.

I think if you step closer to the light you would not only get a stronger focal point, but the focus on the bridge rails would be sharper.

Hope this helps. Keep clicking.

This is a new photo that you aged in Photoshop ?? I would love to see the original.

I think if this was done in Photoshop you might have over done it a little. Overall a good job.

Adorable child, but it isn't in focus. Is that F stop correct ?? I would definately reshoot this beautiful child a million times.

Lovely shot. I wish there was just a bit more at the bottom, but it doesn't take away from the shot much. Great job.

Great yellow Crocus. Top petal a bit soft. I understand you wanting strong light, but maybe you could have toned it down in a post editing program.
