Thanks Michael - I don't think it makes for a good carbon footprint but it is a nice effect! ;-)

Great shot. This is something I really haven't seen. I like how you got the smoke through the trees.

This is a good capture, Nigel, but I wonder about how you could play with two things to enhance the image.

You cannot change the time of day when you took the shot --after noon, before six, I imagine-- but you can 'tweak' the colors a bit and make them pop a bit (I live in Utah and have frequent the M.V. region; the reds and blues are what are truly spectacular here in UT). I'm thinking contrast too, here; by drawing out the blacks you will also make the image 'moodier' and more captivating.

I also wonder about cropping here. Is the small bush as poetic as the stone massifs themselves? If so, it can be left in.

In my own tweaking of this image --see below-- I kind of give you an idea of how I'd draw a different conclusion to what you could do to play with this image, and bring out the land's poetic, dramatic nature.

Let me know what you think. These are only suggestions made in good faith.

Saludos,

JP

Really nice composition.
The colours in the foreground look much more intense than the dunes in the background - digital editing, filter or just one of those things?

Suprised this hasn't been getting any comments, and it certainly deserves more views than it's had. Great shot.

Nice shot, Nigel. You've nicely framed the buildings with those tree branches and also used them to block out (at least partially) some other buildings. Great angle. Cheers, Gary

Excellent end of the day shot, Nigel! I like your composition, with the bay curving around the frame, and the lights under that threatening sky are very good.
Dave.
