Very interesting image Theo - the small flies are scavenger flies (called jackal flies) of the family Milichiidae (13 species known) and are found worldwide. They hang around in the vicinity of spiders, mantids, assasin bugs etc. and lick up the body juices leaking from the prey. The poto could do with a bit tighter cropping (focussing on the spider and prey and it was slightly over-exposed. Otherwise a great image! Regards.
