Thanks for your comments, Daniel & Alexander. Unfortunately, this image is a scan of a 5x7 print, so the quality does leave something to be desired. I'll have to get a hold of a neg scanner or scan an 8x10 print and repost. Thanks again, Fellas.

Harvey -- Unfortunately, I cant adjust for everyone's platform and display settings, so I guess you'll have to give me the benefit of the doubt on this one. That's one frustrating thing about posting things on the Web, there are some variables that effect the image's appearance that are out of your control versus a physical print.

Hi Susan,

I was actually going for something a little more abstract. I like the way the motion blur adds a layer of mystique, making the setting almost dreamlike.

Thanks for your comments, Heather, Neil & Miles! Glad you enjoyed the image.

The beautiful thing about New Yorkers is nothing really phases them. A few people laughed or said "now I've seen it all," but pretty much went back to their business after that.

We were shooting in Times Square later that day and met a guy who was attending the Eddie Adams photo workshop that week. He took some pictures of me photographing Shaun for a project the workshop was doing on NYC. I'm not sure if we made it into the workshop's gallery, but was pretty random bumping into him.

I'll share more from this series once I get 'em organized.

Cheers,

Michael

Hey Jeff,

Thanks for your comments, much appreciated. After your seeing your attachment, I agree the crop definitely does improve the image.

But I really don't have a problem with the necklace. I actually liked the way the vertical line created by the hanging necklace works with the lines of the Empire St. Besides I was photographing my friend's fall line and should have killed me for removing pieces of her outfits .

Cheers.

Great Shot, Abel. I love how the shadows create a new reality....hard to tell which end is up.

Hey Marty,

Thanks for the feedback. I agree the right side of her face is a bit too bright, Cathy was having fun and moving around during the shoot, which lead to the great pose, but unfortunately, she moved closer to the light while doing so. It's something I'll be more conscious of in the future. And thanks for the tip about the powder. More to come soon.

Cheers.

Hey Marty, Katia & Susan,

Thanks a lot for your encouragement. Kemdi is a singer, so the fact that she is a performer makes her a lot of fun to shoot. We put on Jamiroqui and then she just went with it.

As far as lighting goes, we just used some lamps in my friend's apartment. I set up a desk lamp on her left-side and another tower lamp on her right-side.

Since I've gotten my digital camera I've been meeting with Cathy & Kemdi every Friday. I'll post more shortly.

Thanks again.

Hi Kim, thanks a lot for your feedback. I was trying to make Cathy look fantastical or almost doll-like. But I can see your point about the hot spots being distracting.

My Friday photo compadres and I all still learning, so it's great to get input.

Thanks again.
