You do have a great eye for these sort of images don't you? Its complemented by you PS work too, and in this case you have an absolute stunner.

Hi Roger,

these red painted structures really do work well in photographs. Nice bright forms for the eye to grab. This is especially so when the rest of the image ia almost monochrome. I think its terrific.

Thats a very impressive image. Theres plenty of movement, the composition is spot on and the tones are perfect. Just one minot point - the movement in the branches, now if that had remained still I think this would have been brilliant.

Hi Roger,

well all I can say is you have nailed this one. Tones are perfect, as is the composition, and the softness of the background really doesn't enter the equation. Brilliant.

OK so that comment got through - now why didn't the previous ones?

Anyway .... I think you are doing great with macros, theres so much you can do, if you need some ideas on composition and 'seeing' the image then have a look at this guys portfolio (pbase.com/sjusczyk) its very inspirational, especially the natural imaging sections.

I like to use repeating shapes whenever I can, for example (pbase.com/falcn/image/46754469) where I put the same flower out of focus in the background.

Hope some of this helps

Roger,
you are doing great with these macros. You are wrong that flowers jusr ARE, there is so much more you can do with them compositionally. I like to have repeating shapes in the background using a flower of the same type but out of focus - have a look at http://www.pbase.com/falcn/image/46754469 as an example.

Roger, there are several ways of adding interest into the composition. I like to have a repeating flower but out of focus in the background. Have a look at this as an example http://www.pbase.com/falcn/image/46754469

Beautiful patchwork, blending back into the blue tones of the hills. Not sure that I would have left so much sky in shot, but thats only a small point.

Now thats tremendous, certainly different from your usual style. Greta work too. I'd be proud to have that one in my portfolio.

Now thats what I call a bridge. The red certainly makes you take notice, it even makes the adverts and boards disappear. Nice shot.

Hey congrats on the POTD.
Excellent timing on that one.

I hear there maybe a few people going to Northumberland, I do hope to be able to get there.

I like these panos Roger, you appear to have not been posting so many recently. This really shows the whole scene, much better than could be achieved using a 35mm

Thats terrific in terms of both composition and drama. The sky really does set the whole thing off but the line of pots really makes the image work.

Nice one

I can just hear Roger now ;-)
He certainly woukd make something of the saturation.

I do like the composition on this, but its the vivid colours which win out screaming for attention.

We are a fair way from the Sea here in SHeffield, but I could swear I could hear the crash of the waves just then. Only one thing missing - the Spracklen Seagull !!

Hi Kevin, I have to agree with Chris on this one, I'm not too keen on the mono sky and the lush green of the grass. However the RED really does work well.

Very nice landscape indeed. I have to guess its a Spracklen sky as the dark side of the clouds doesn't match the tree shadows. However that really doesn't take anything away from this image. Very impressive.
