beautiful image Chris! I love the combination of soft colors, light and soft shadows and fog.

Very cool Chris. I think the colours would stand out even better if you added a hairline black border on this.

Very nice. It looks like a painting to me. I like the lazy flow of the land with the early morning shadows and mist. Good job!

Now I see why no one looks at my balloon shots. They are spoiled. Here's one to share with you personally because you understand the fun of it. Nice work.

This is from the inside of a balloon looking at the inside of a balloon.

What a great shot! Sorry to disagree with Max, but I really like the dark area at the top - for me it helps balance the picture tonally. Good stuff!

Very nice, I like that it's lit right in the middle of the frame. I don't like the top, however, it is too black.

Of all your images I think this is my favorite. I like that it is a unique perspective on a common subject.

My first impression on seeing this picture... the devil with a couple of pitchforks!!! I don't know if it was intentional, but the firey red of the subject and the way the hands are positioned... very creepy!!
Great job!

I have been lucky enough to get a few of these sort of shots myself at times. They are very satisfying to get. My personal preference is to wait until the whole outline of the dark cloud is fringed with light.

It is always difficult with the sunburst to assess the best time to shoot as it may only last a few seconds and the degree of the sunburst effect can vary a lot in this time, changing suddenly.

This is a lovely shot but then I am a sucker for sky shots without distractions. No horizons or mans clutter, just natures shapes and colours.

A couple of sites if you also love this sort of pic... http://www.meteo.physik.uni-muenchen.de/~paul/nwpej.html

Hey Larry, I sympathize completely. I've seen some clouds out at Point Reyes with shafts of light breaking through and hitting the ocean. Epic. Now that I take my photography more seriously, I ALWAYS have a camera nearby. Even if I'm just going to grab some coffee I bring a camera. Better safe than sorry.

Nice shot Chris !!

What a coinkidink. I saw this on the random images frame on the left, and was about to click on it, but decided not to, because I get tired of jumping back and forth every time I do this, and what did I see when I scrolled down one more thumbnail? *smirk* Awesome shot, guy. Been trying FOREVER to get a shot like this, but these days, with my crazy schedule, I almost never have time to pack my camera into my van and take it with me, and, wouldn't ya know it, shots like this only come around when I don't have it with me. *growl* Thanks for posting this one, though. It was the kick in the butt I needed to start taking my third eye with me everywhere I go again.

Looks like you used a star filter on this one...good use of it. Nice shot, too. Okay, so it would seem you're familiar with Photoshop. Used the levels, eh? Yeah...though it gives you better control over the tonal range of a picture than plain ol' brightness and contrast, it's not NEARLY as powerful and precise as the CURVES tool. Try using it instead. It lets you adjust the tones of each individual color channel. You could've adjusted the contrast of JUST the blue channel, and left the house as yellow as it was originally. It takes some getting used to, but with the number of different tonal areas you're able to isolate and adjust combined with the different channels, you'll be absolutely AMAZED at the control you'll start to have over your pictures. Not even the best dark room printers can do what this beautiful program can.

Man, this REALLY makes me want to go to one of these sometime. I'd like to see all this going on in the dark...would HAVE to be breathtaking. The bright blue light at the bottom of the middle balloon makes me think I might hear CarolAnne talking to me through my TV at any moment. GREAT shot! (Now for the picky part, though...might've cropped out that little thing on the bottom left corner...keeps making my eyes jump over to it to try to figure out what it is.)

Chris,

Good job, guy! Though Maggie makes a good point about that one post, it's so small there at the end that it's certainly not something I'd notice without looking for it. *chuckle* But, on here, that's what we're supposed to do...look at every little detail, and we've just gotta nail ya for that. *wink* I like the composition here. And all the lines are nice and clean, thanks to a GREAT DOF. I likes it ("So I talk with a lisp. I don't get it...why all the fuss over a couple of extra 's's?"). Sorry...just a classic quote from Kids in the Hall I thought I'd throw in.
