I have just enjoyed visiting your portfolio...especially the portraits of the children...this is a good composition with excellent tones and clarity...my only nit is the flash(?) in his eyes...it seems to distract from those beautiful young eyes...

a beautiful capture right down to the shine on the leaves without overexposing...good color and good detail...like the presentation with it just peeking out of the frame...excellent image

one often see reflections of buildings, birds and clouds...not often are we treated to the reflections of a tiger...good clarity, color and detail as I would expect from you...

the lighting and the composition are excellent, as most of your black and white portaits are...the background does not seem solid here...is it a drape or result of the scanner...minor distraction in my opinion...the body language and the shadows are what show off best here...very well done...

this is a fantastic image...a very creative idea and a very well executed capture...the match head is perfectly sharp on the left side...how many trys?

I have often looked at your work, but never commented...seeing your work as not just photographic, but artistic, I find it difficult...sometimes, I just like it...this is a beautifully captured photograph...you have rendered the patina well on the thumb and the fingers...the shadow of the hand in the upper left is almost like a tease and well placed at a diagonal from the hand...the disjointed chain running in the vertical holds those two images together and lastly the division of the image into unequal sizes makes the composition work...I like it

excellent depth...and sharp where it should be...nose to eyes...the colors of this tiger are beautiful...especially those blue eyes...a very regal pose with good light and detail...an excellent image

not only a wonderful composition but a great expression and the perfect title to top it off...that looks as though that is exactly what he is saying...did you crop this from a larger image or is it full frame?...you caught a perfect catchlight in each eye and the tilt of the head is great too...I'd like to see a bit more definition in the feathers...is this one with digital zoom?...such a good eye for composition

you have a great composition and have a good perspective...I just wish for a bit more light to show the detail of the tree trunks and branches...the image is a bit soft, perhaps from scan/upload...I think just a slight crop at the bottom would balnce the pathway a bit...good eye for a great composition

well composed with good detail, including the fact that the snails have been eating them....I like the dof where you begin to blur just behind the mushroom and then blur more behind the ridge...colors and exposure are good....the only nit is that bright spot above the ridge almost centered...

Thanks for commenting on my Tulip Time...as mentioned I darkened the background...the original with the foilage exposed properly may be more to your liking

Hi Rick...you have garnered a good composition here with good dof...perhaps just a tad off the mark with more focus on the seed box and a bit less on your Goldfinch...the pose of the finch is good, catching him working on a seed...I notice that your settings are all set to Auto...I wonder about shooting in a Shutter Priority which would stop the motion and define the finch more...your exposure appears to be quite on

I can certainly see why this beauty is a favorite...a fantastic perspective agains the natural gradient sky makes a wonderful and dramatic composition...I would be curious about how long your exposure was...the rays of light from lthe lighthouse are just perfect...a good ad for www.artbeacon.com ...

HI bill, I don't find the white distracting except for one thing...if it is the lake, then you need to level the horizon...this is an excellent shot...good exposure and detail and a perfect dof...and I would leave it natural...I don't thinbk I would change the lake, except to straighten...

a good composition with good exposure...though I long for either the tips of the tails or a tighter crop (head and shoulder style)...excellent eye and quick thinking to capture this...

That is a wonderful action/nature photo...you retained the form of the duck while capturing the action...beautiful...exposure is good...I might be tempted to crop out the dark at the top just to keep emphasis on the duck...the effect on the water behind is excellent...great image...my compliments

you have captured some good backlighting and excellent patterns in the leaf...I find that the harsh shadow both at the tip of the leaf and at the stem (though this shadow is indeed much softer) are just a bit distracting...I like the capture of the waterdrops, but the horizontal line going across the backgound is also distracting...all in all a good composition that could be improved upon with a softer or blurred background....

Composition is excellent detail and exposure on the building are good...a bit of noise in the sky, to be expected under low light...my only question is the glow from the right...did you add that or was that natural?...doesn't matter to me...I like the end result

simplicity of composition makes this an easy image to enjoy...love the light and clouds...wish there was just a bit more detail in the rock...the birds are a delightful bonus

Nice vivid colors against a dark backdrop...the yellow really stands out well...good detail and good exposure make a great composition...nice and sharp and crisp...excellent...my only thought might be to crop a bit off the top so the eye doesn't wander

this image seems to have a bit too much yellow in the green and might benefit from a good sharpening...I find the inclusion of the stick to the right somewhat distracting...a little different angle might be better....I wonder if this might have worke better vertically rather than horizontal...I am always a sucker for flower and birds...would be anxious to see this when it come up this year

I have no problems giving straight sevens on this ...it is a great natural abstract, straight from Mother Nature...good detail in the ice, nice and sharp and good exposure... but what is a real bonus is the reflection in the ice of the tree...if i had one nit to pick it might be the removal of the snow...simply cropping it out..but it also adds interest to that corner...colors are good and I like this...might even consider flipping it 180 to have the tree upright

your exposure is good on this little fellow...tough to catch the eye but a great pose you caught and with his mouth open even better...compositionally I would (next time) try to get the feet in and include the tail...having said that, this could be cropped as a head shot giving it the look of intentional framing...in an image editing program you might be able to bring out the eye a bit more...I can see the catchlight which is a plus...you have managed some excellent feathery detail below the wings and on the chest...all in all it is a good image

an excellent composition, but i find myself wishing for the whole person as well....but I think even cropping the person out you still retain interest in the image...excellent light and good detail and toning...an image I would enjoy

I have seen this myself and was amazed at the force that hits the water...the beautiful blue of the glacier seems a bit lost here, though I realize it was overcast and a bit foggy perhaps...this image (if it were mine) would be a candidate for some toning and contrast work..a little bit soft on the glacier but with enough detail to pull ou by minor sharpening...excellent composition...hope we will see more...and a very Happy New Year to you...

this is a wonderful image...to begin with you have a good dof giving the nice blurred effect in the background which leaves all the focus on your hummer...then you have what I cal a semi-stop action...the wings are in motion but a fast enough shutter to catch some detail...and of course sharp and detailed on the beak and eyes..only little nit is the white on the throat...lost a bit of detail there, but I am not complaining...I'd be delighted to make this shot excellent...hope you have a great 2004...Leslie

good composition for the tight macro...works well and a good red color...might be just slightly oversarpend...lucky you brought it in...after the rains today poor thing would be drowned...a very Happy New Year to you for 2004
