I have no problems giving straight sevens on this ...it is a great natural abstract, straight from Mother Nature...good detail in the ice, nice and sharp and good exposure... but what is a real bonus is the reflection in the ice of the tree...if i had one nit to pick it might be the removal of the snow...simply cropping it out..but it also adds interest to that corner...colors are good and I like this...might even consider flipping it 180 to have the tree upright

your exposure is good on this little fellow...tough to catch the eye but a great pose you caught and with his mouth open even better...compositionally I would (next time) try to get the feet in and include the tail...having said that, this could be cropped as a head shot giving it the look of intentional framing...in an image editing program you might be able to bring out the eye a bit more...I can see the catchlight which is a plus...you have managed some excellent feathery detail below the wings and on the chest...all in all it is a good image

looks like your lifeguard is missing...captured excellent colors and they do appear to be true...excellent exposure and detail and a good composition as well

an excellent composition, but i find myself wishing for the whole person as well....but I think even cropping the person out you still retain interest in the image...excellent light and good detail and toning...an image I would enjoy

I have seen this myself and was amazed at the force that hits the water...the beautiful blue of the glacier seems a bit lost here, though I realize it was overcast and a bit foggy perhaps...this image (if it were mine) would be a candidate for some toning and contrast work..a little bit soft on the glacier but with enough detail to pull ou by minor sharpening...excellent composition...hope we will see more...and a very Happy New Year to you...

this is a wonderful image...to begin with you have a good dof giving the nice blurred effect in the background which leaves all the focus on your hummer...then you have what I cal a semi-stop action...the wings are in motion but a fast enough shutter to catch some detail...and of course sharp and detailed on the beak and eyes..only little nit is the white on the throat...lost a bit of detail there, but I am not complaining...I'd be delighted to make this shot excellent...hope you have a great 2004...Leslie

good composition for the tight macro...works well and a good red color...might be just slightly oversarpend...lucky you brought it in...after the rains today poor thing would be drowned...a very Happy New Year to you for 2004

this is a pretty good self portrait...you looked releaxed enough that it appears someone else might be taking it...only two things...1. is the top crop...I always feel that if you are going to crop the top of a head, you should probably tighten up the rest of the crop....keeping it just to the face...I think compositionally it works better...and 2. is I'd like to see just a bit more light...Here is to a very Happy New Year to you...Leslie

a beautiful capture of the Pointsettia...the composition is excellent as is the post work...my only nit is that it is just a tad dark...I think if you bring up the mid level just a bit it would really shine...the very best for a Happy and Prosperous New Year...Leslie

Like liquid gold...I am looking for something to keep my attention...though I like the colors and the metallic feel, I think it needs something else to really give it some impact...something not circular...Have a Great New Year in 2004!

and a very Happy and Prospeous New Year to you Harry...more tigers and bears for 2004?....

such a great moment from the capture of the tonque to the eye that is watching everything...colors and clarity are excellent as usual...detail just jumps out

Not quite the same...you have minimized the filter which IMO is perfect now and the framing really sets the image off...it has a mystical, dreamy feel to it...I really prefer this one and of course being a fan of frames I love it....

Happy New Year Andrew...I am a fan of tight crops and flower macros..but this just misses the mark a bit...I think you could have greater impact by doing one of two things in future shots....either zooming in to the center of the flower and getting a good sharp focus, or doing a partial as you have done here but showing at least one full petal. In this image I find myself wanting the tip of the right petal and maybe even pulling the crop in a bit from the left...this is a case, where I think half a flower is better than "part" of a flower...if you get my meaning...I have looked through your portfolio and it appears you do have an eye for composition ...so keep it up; I'll be looking forward to more posts...and thank you for the comments on Winters Fern...Leslie

a good family candid...color is good and lighting is excellent...might consider a tighter crop taking out the extended arm on the left and the plaid on the right...leave the focus on the two young ones...Have a great 2004!

I have mixed feelings about this one...the colors are beautiful, the composition is good with good strong center detail...it is the use of the filter (?) I am questioning...I have a feeling that this would be a good strong image on it's own...I love that filter and certainly enjoy playing with it...but I have found that in some cases it actually can distract from the image...but you know I love your work...so I accept it as it is. Hope you have a Healthy, Happy, and Prosperous New Year...Leslie

I really like the composition and the diagonal created across the image...excellent dof really makes this work and the selected colorized subjects add to the images pleasure...not sure that I would have selected the same color, but all in all it makes a good abstract...this mike make an even higher impact image with varying shades of grays as well...Hve a wonderful 2004...

I'd be tempted to crop down from the top just a bit to eliminate some of the blown out upper left...but this is one heck of a beautiful composition and a great winter scene

Many thanks for all the nice comments on my pictures in the last year...her is wishing you a Happy, Healthy & Prosperous New Year...

I remember this picture...one of my first impressions of your work...I loved it then as I do now...a wonderful perspective with good detail and I love how the canal curves...I also remember a discussion about the mast...but I don't find it distracting anymore...I think I have leaned how to look at pictures...so nice to see you here...I hope you have a wonderful 2004...Leslie

Beautiful pastoral colors...a good reflection and a good sillhouette...I like the dark blue at the top but might tend to crop a sliver of out just to raise silhouette in the picture...wishing you the very best for 2004

I love the colors on the flowers...they are vivid and sharp and well detailed with a good exposure...but the image breaks up a bit... the vibrant green grass and the foilage to the right is good, but then the lighter color of the walkway seems to get in the way of enjoying the flower...sort of breaks the image horizontally...if you don't object to post work, you might try a bit of cloning of the grass or changing the background all together...such good color and detail on the flower...welcome to Usefilm and have a great 2004!

Beautifull cat...appears to be another light to the right which seems to dominate the color...a bit of work on the contrast/levels to help even this out...excellent fur detail...might try a shallower dof to keep the background blurred more...even tightening up the crop to keep the focus on the eyes

composition and light are good and the lily is a beautiful color, but let the lily stand out on its own...the pink frame pulls the viewers ey away...perhaps just a neutral color or just straight black...good detail with a nice green background
