A very well deserved EC award for a great picture which shows a very well-honed eye for a picture.
I think this is a combination of reflections and gaps in the mirror. The DOF is well set, so that we almost can't tell one from the other.

Wonderful photo. But I find a bit to contrasty. On my screen the highlights are almost blown out. I know there's more detail there.

This a fine photograph! The people in it have meaning and project personality, and the viewer assembles a narrative from the arrangement.
Your shot resembles esthetically and certainly in ?feeling? the enclose D. Arbus picture.

It looks like the kitchen when I have a party or some friends over and when every one leaves...you realize how messy the kitchen really is! :-\

The ivory whites are most likely due to the paper, but the warmth of the blacks does indeed sound like selenium :-) An additional nice effect is that the midtones tend to turn slightly purplish.
I wouldn't mind trying out the cameras you mention, but I have to control myself - I already have too many cameras, given the (small) amount of rolls I shoot.
