Yamil, The bears in Churchill begin to gather in mid-october and the numbers increase until the bay freezes over.

As soon as the bears can get out on the ice, they are gone.

Ideally the Last week in October thru the 2nd week in November are supposedly the peak. If you get there during that time, you will most probably see plenty of them.

Thanks for the comment!

Thanks everyone! MarySue, we were a little bit apprehensive about this trip, but after going, my wife and I both put it in the top few trips we have ever been on.

If you go, I strongly recommend using Natural Habitat s the tour, very small groups and great programs

I hate it when your right, :-) Thanks for the input. I wasn't quite sure what I didn't like about it, and I think you nailed it.

Damn good Eric. The depth of field is perfect along with the exposure and focus.

My only nit about this image is that it would have been nice to have the front leg not blocking the head, but I been there and done that Eric.....many times

It is a great shot, congrats!

Thanks for the comment Nikolai

In regards to the DOF, it is a good though, and believe me I tried.

I took a ton of these shots and can tell you that what you are seeing is about the maximum DOF. This image was taken with a telephoto and extension tubes. When you put those two items together and are focusing at close to the minimum distance, you get very little DOF.

Cool shot Joe, great reflection captured.

It is a tad hot on the top of the head and back, but after my Everglades trip I really understand how difficult this shot was!

Congrats!

yup you sure did MS. The shot needs a faster shutter or a tripod or both and a fill flash to bring out some detail in the bird. I am not an expert on birds, but I think it is a nuthatch

Excellent Joe, You have kept wonderful details in your whites, and that is tough to do with this bird.

Congrats on a really nice one!

Tman, Great shot, I love the clouds and sky. I am not sure what created the white halo around the building. It could be naturally occuring, but it almost looks like a sharpening halo?

Great mood! I really like the emotions I feel from the colour and lighting on this one JT.

Have you tried rotating the image about 1.5 degrees clockwise? You will lose a bit on the edges when you crop it, but the image might look a little more level.

Petros, Tell us how you really feel!

Eric, It does work better on the flowers, but I would tend to agree with Petros.....if ya got a winner to begin with, dont fool with it.

If you shoot like me, these techniques come in very handy

Thank you for the correction, you are correct I believe. I think my notes got a bit jumbled and they were all new to me!

Appreciate the correction

I like the lines of this one roy, but I personally feel it is too "cramped" I would have like a bit more space around the edges.
