Salah, the term DOF refers to "Depth of Field." In the horse photo, notice how the background is "out of focus." This makes the sharper image of the horse stand out very clearly. The horse is in sharp focus. The background is out of focus. This is intentional. The photographer controls the area of focus by opening up the aperature.
