Bill this is a fantastic shot..just beautiful.. outstanding macro with great depth and clarity. I assume you made use of Daylight, aka, natural sunlight. I would like to refer you to Nancy Liu. She does a lot of floral shots, and i will ask her to look at your work as well. She uses a Nikon D100 too, and she uses a 105mm macro 1:1 ratio for some of her shots. I have approached flowers in a similar way, but with my Coolpix 4500. i am giving a 7/7 for your creativity..

The colors in this one glow. I really like the reds and golds in the background, it makes a nice counterpoint to the blue in the front. I might like this better if the flowers in the back was out of there, it takes just a bit away from that amazing flower in the front. Lighting and detail are wonderful and I like the cropping. Nice work.
