Looks like a male house finch or purple finch (which are actually more raspberry) to me.

Thinks? He is! Great shot. I'm a better man for knowing this child- he's a real ham with the best personality and funny, cheeez.. For his Dad to catch this shot and him to stand still that long is worth the score I am giving. Not to mention that the image is very well posed and is not to heavy on the processing. A little dark on the very top portion of his head.

William - what software are you using to edit your pictures. Under your File or Image menu there should be something called "image size"...

Hi,
This is the first time I've responded to a photo, kinda new at this. I think Doyle was right on the money, a common house finch. Nice shot, very sharp and clear. I would like to post one on usefilm but I do notknow how to reduce my image sizes. Any help out there? I could sure use some
Thank-you Bill

Just came over via your post in the forum. Personally, I like using gaussian to soften an image. Gives it an overall dreamy quality. You could try adding another layer below and boost the contrast as well. I feel as though the trees and branches need to pop more. Just a thought...
Cheers Rina

Great clarity - This bird is (I'm pretty sure) a common house finch. The red coloring on the head can get quite bright. I don't know what camera you used but the lens has a tele-photo feel to it.

I shot it with a Canon 10D. I think that the aperture and the tripod helped the most with the detail.

Lovely colors and tone, Jimmie. The standing cylinder and prone semicylinder on a box at right angles is very nice composition. Sad about "progress". Steve

Thank you for your comment on my tree shot. I alway like to see who is commenting on my photos so I hopped over here to take a peek.
Jimmie this is a very classic shot. What beautiful colors this photo has with the amazing sunset, the red barn and the green field. Great lighting.
Your no help with the lens thing though.LOL Kelly

felicitaciones, hermosos trabajo...
Saludos
