The quadtone effect looks very nice and artistic, but besides of that it also alters the impact of the image, in my opinion. In the coloured version my attention is drawn very strongly to the two figures. In the quadtone version, it is the light on the pillars that has become the most important.

excellent composition...agree with bill on the monochorome though.. the masks by themselves are so powerful stacked like this that i think IMHO that the colors distract! my opinion aside, its a brilliant shot!

I think we both go to the same places! I grew up in San Diego and was in the zoo again just last summer.

Thanks Sudhir. This was taken from a moving crowded vaporetto. On my next visit, if there is one, I will try to get on the land on the other side of the canal to study this building in greater detail.

Any Venetian care to identify what this building is or what it is called? That will help me to find it next time.

Excellent PS effect Amitava.
The tones and the lighting are wonderful and so is the composition of the columns.
The 2 people add a lot to the mood of the photo.
Well done,
Khaled.

Steve, thanks for your kind words. This is just one image. The trees were by the side of the road. I chose my viewpoint so that they would form a natural frame.

And the size is dictated by UF's 800px and 360kB max.
